About
One Green Eye all began when I was told by my ophthalmologist that I would need to have my right eye removed due to complications with Glaucoma and previous surgeries I had undergone. It was not necessary, however it was highly recommended. This was back in 2003.
For over 6 years I bounced back and fourth with the idea of having my eye removed. I kept telling myself that my eye was useful even though the vision I had in it was merely blurred colours & I had pain on a daily basis. I hated the idea of losing my eye. I felt that I was ridiculed enough in school for the ways my eye looked, I didn’t need such a major change, especially in junior high.
Just recently (November 2009) my eye pain became unbearable & I had enough. My optometrist prescribed me to some pain killers and a referral was made for me to see an eye surgeon. The first surgeon I saw ended up stepping down while I was awaiting a surgery date which lead me back to the starting point. I waited until February 2010 before being able to see another doctor who agreed that the eye did need to come out & was scheduled for surgery.
I haven’t had my surgery yet, it is scheduled for April 16th 2010. I started this website to have a way to log my story as well as a way to keep busy before, and after surgery.
